looking for a suitable candidate for the position of: Security Officer

The Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Security Risk Assessment & Management:
• Conduct regular security risk assessments and threat analyses specific to the
operating environment in Northeast Syria.
• Provide timely updates and recommendations to the NES Senior Security Officer
and other relevant stakeholders based on security situation.
• Monitor and follow up field movements and out of Base movements, in addition
to travel requests, and make sure that all movement permissions are granted
properly before movement execution.
• Ensure that all AN staff are adhering to the security policies, SOPs and protocols
and report any breach to the management.
• Arrange and request any security needs for AN premises and maintain a regular
checks and follow up for safety and security equipment and assets.
2. Access Management:
• In coordination with the NES Senior Security Officer, Develop and implement
access management protocols to facilitate the safe and efficient delivery of
humanitarian aid and services.
• Liaise with local authorities and community leaders to negotiate and secure
access to areas of operation, and maintain AN acceptance.
• Inform the line manager and/or relative management staff about the latest
governmental circulations, curfews upon issuing, and ensure that AN is abiding
the rules and laws of the local authorities which related to the humanitarian
work.
3. Incident Management:
• Act as the focal point for incident reporting and response related to security
issues affecting humanitarian operations.
• Develop and maintain contingency plans for various security scenarios in
coordination with the NES Senior Security Officer.
4. Capacity Building:
• Provide security and access training, induction and guidance to AN staff including
new joiners and partners.
• As a line manager of the Security guards, the Security officer will conduct a
periodic capacity building, appraisal and monitor their performance.
5. Networking and Coordination:
• Represent the organization in security coordination meetings and forums with
other humanitarian actors, and government entities.
• Foster strong relationships with local stakeholders to enhance understanding of
the security dynamics in Northeast Syria.
• Coordinate with the departments and the head of base for security related
matters.
6. Compliance and Reporting:
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, procedures, and
guidelines.
• Prepare regular security reports and updates for internal and external
dissemination.
7. Security Guards management:
• The security officer will be the direct supervisor of the Security guards.
• Prepare the monthly roster for the security guards who are guarding AN
premises.
• Manage the HR related documentations e.g., leaves, timesheets, etc.…
• Keep in touch with the security guards and provide assistance and advisory
whenever needed.
8. Any other related tasks assigned by the line manager.


Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a relevant field (e.g., international relations, law, or
similar).
• Proven experience in security management, preferably in humanitarian or development
contexts.
• At least 3 years Previous experience with INGOs in security filed.
• Strong understanding of the political, social, and security dynamics in Northeast Syria.
• Experience in conducting security risk assessments and developing mitigation
strategies.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and networking skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and challenging environment.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent knowledge of mapping programs, apps and platforms.
• Basic knowledge of satellite devices (GPS trackers and satellite phones).

Note: This role is based in Northeast Syria and may involve travel and work in remote or
insecure locations with limited amenities. Candidates should be prepared for the demands
and challenges of working in such environments.
