Overview:
Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) International is a humanitarian organization providing urgent support to the people of Syria. All project activities are politically neutral, independent, and impartial. We provide support to everyone based on need, not political, religious, ethnic, or tribal affiliation.
CHF is seeking a professional for the position of MEL Communications & Learning Officer for a multi-year USAID-funded project “Growing Agriculture and Incomes in Syria (GROW) Activity” in Northeast Syria. This position reports to the Sr. MEL Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The MEL Communications & Learning Officer is responsible for the following tasks and responsibilities:
• Manage GROW program communications and reporting activities, including preparation of reports, success stories, press releases, and other internal and external program communications. • Ensure effective design and delivery of communications products that effectively convey the desired message to targeted audience(s).
• Responsible for liaising with GROW CoP and HQ-based Communications Department to issue press releases, success stories, and other internal and external documents to share CHF work in NES Syria.
• Generate donor specific visibility content including text, photos, videos and audio for use across a range of integrated online platforms.
• Support program teams and develop communications materials on important events as required.
• Support M&E colleagues in the field and at HQ in gathering, tracking and reporting data.
• Lead the drafting of quarterly programmatic reports, in accordance with donor guidelines and formats.
• Lead the compilation of monthly reports.
• Assist in the development of an in-country communications strategy and assist HQ colleagues in the development of an international communications strategy for GROW.
• Responsible for ensuring that CHF programming in Syria is compliant with donor branding and marking requirements.
• Assist in procuring and taking responsibility for managing service providers for program publicity and communication purposes.
• All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English (linguistics or literature), public relations, or journalism.
• A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a marketing, and/or communications, journalism public relations position. Previous experience with donor reporting preferred.
• Working knowledge of agriculture, food security, value chain, enterprise development and development sector.
• Strong time-management and organizational skill.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic; knowledge of Kurdish is desirable.
Language Skills:
• Must have excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to write clear, concise, and articulate program reports and communications materials with minimal oversight and editing in both English and Arabic.
