General Description:

The Field Logistics Officer will play a critical role in the implementation and oversight of logistics and

supply chain operations in the field. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient procurement,

transportation, and distribution of goods and materials, supporting our humanitarian and development

projects.

Academic Requirements:

Associate degree or equivalent in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field

Required Skills & Abilities:

  •          Strong knowledge of procurement procedures, customs regulations, and transport logistics.
  •          Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  •          Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  •          Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  •          Adaptability and resilience in managing logistics challenges in field environments.

·     Effective time management and ability to work under pressure in a remote setting

 Main Responsibilities:

Procurement and supply:

·         Coordinate all local procurement activities, including sourcing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and negotiating contracts.

·         Ensure procurement is carried out in compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.

·         Maintain detailed procurement records and documentation.

Inventory management:

·         Oversee and manage inventory levels at field locations, ensuring adequate stock for ongoing projects.

  •          Implement inventory control measures to minimize losses and enhance cost efficiency.
  •          Conduct regular stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.

Transportation and distribution:

  • ·         Coordinate the transportation and distribution of goods to project sites within challenging field
    environments.
  • ·          Optimize transportation routes and methods for efficiency and cost savings.
  • ·         Ensure strict compliance with transportation regulations and customs procedures.

Warehousing and storage:

  • ·         Manage field warehouses and storage facilities, ensuring secure and organized storage of
    materials.
  • ·         Enforce proper storage and handling procedures, especially for sensitive or perishable materials.

Documentation and reporting:

·         Maintain accurate records of logistics activities in the field, including procurement, shipments,
and inventory.

·         Prepare and submit regular reports on logistics performance, cost analysis, and key metrics.

·          Implement documentation and record-keeping best practices.

·         Update procurement tracker.

Compliance and regulations:

·         Ensure strict adherence to all relevant international and local regulations, including customs,
import/export requirements, and safety standards.

·          Monitor changes in regulations and adapt logistics processes accordingly.

·          Perform purchase activities as per AFH procurement procedures.

·         Any other tasks requested by line manager.
