Background:
CHF International (CHF) is an international non-profit humanitarian and development organization that works closely with communities worldwide to bring about sustainable changes that improve the lives and livelihoods of the vulnerable. CHF is providing emergency humanitarian assistance & Livelihoods development support in Northeast Syria.
This position will report the Finance Coordinator.
Responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant is responsible for the following:
•
Implement CHF International financial policies and procedures.
•
Supervision on all petty cash funds in NES offices and protection centers, perform cash counts on time, reconcile and prepare petty cash replenishments’ requests.
•
Review all submitted payments’ supporting documents to ensure proper procedures are in place.
•
Daily follow up for NES payment tracking sheet ensuring all payments in pipeline are captured in the tracker.
•
Ensure NES staff payroll is distributed on time, and efficient coordination with Money Facilitator to attend NES offices for salary distribution.
•
Provide support to the Finance Coordinator in following up with the Money Facilitator and vendors in NES regarding payments, resolve any arising issues, and collect original receipts of received payments, and documents form the MF ensuring receipts information are matching payment list details and as per procedures.
•
Provide assistance to staff on processes and documents for: travel, advance and expense claims.
•
Booking: record daily project expenses into QuickBooks or the designated accounting software promptly and accurately,
•
Ensure financial transactions supporting documents are archived as per organization policy.
•
Any other assignment by the supervisor.
Required Education and Experience
•
University/bachelor’s degree in accounting/ finance/business administration with a Minimum of two years of experience in accounting and finance in international or national organization working in humanitarian assistance or private sector or
•
An equivalent University/bachelor’s degree with a Minimum of three years of experience in accounting and finance in international or national organization working in humanitarian assistance or private sector.
•
Knowledge in Project accounting preferred.
Technical skills
•
Attention to details.
•
Excellent command of excel and other database applications.
•
Good knowledge and skills in financial software, working knowledge of Quick Books, Net Suite would be considered an asset.
•
Other Qualifications
•
Culture sensitivity and excellent understanding of cross-culture working environment.
Language skills
•
Good command in written and spoken English.
