- Monitor all protection-related matters (i.e., identify services and gaps) in the site of intervention and follow-up by referring identified cases to the relevant partners and advocate for relevant services provision to fill identified gaps
- Responsible for ensuring protection standards are mainstreamed in all CCCM activities, and in other partners’ interventions in the camp, with key recommendations made in terms of mitigation measures to be implemented in the camp
- Develop new tools / processes to enhance service mapping and protection risks monitoring in the site and better channel up to higher coordination bodies protection concerns
- Establish/support effective referral pathway in the camp
- Support for the identification, follow-up, and referral of individuals, especially women and girls at-risk and/or in need of protection services
- Ensure training and capacity building of CCCM units, camp leaders and committees
- Report on protection activities to the Deputy Camp Manager/Camp Manager, and Capital Protection Unit
Identification and monitoring of protection risks and concerns in the informal settlement
- Monitor protection issues and provide feedback to CCCM units and partners based on findings
- Participate in regular spot check in the camp
- Follow up on the safety audit action plan and support for new safety audit – in coordination with protection actors if any present in the camp
- Hold regular focus group discussions with site residents especially vulnerable groups to identify and analyse protection needs and gaps that exist in the camp
- Participate in the analysis of protection and safety risks in the camp, and discuss with the Camp Manager/CCCM units to identify key actions/activities that may be implemented to response to the risks identified
Identification and support to vulnerable site residents
- In cooperation with CCCM IM unit, ensure that individuals with special needs are identified during registration and through door-to-door visit
- Ensure that vulnerable households and individuals receive information on services available and refer to other organisations if needs identified
Monitoring of protection mainstreaming in camp activities
- Ensure regular monitoring of protection mainstreaming during distributions
- Assess accessibility challenges to access services for vulnerable groups/individuals through spot check assessment, focus group discussion and analysis of complaints
Support to Governance and capacity building
- Support the Women Committee and/or work with them for conducting FGDs, build capacity in protection and collect complaints/support them if they receive any protection case
- Build a close relation with the women committee and encouraging their active participation including their role in conducting FGDs, running the women centre, identifying key protection concerns and receiving complaints/suggestions and ensuring the continuous capacity building for the committee members
- Monitor the effective participation of diverse camp population groups in camp activities including in employment opportunities, activities, community social events and initiatives, and inclusion of diverse groups in camp governance structures
- Participate in the development and/or review of training materials on protection in liaison with the Protection Technical Coordinator and the Camp Manager
- Facilitate as requested training for stakeholders and site-level governance structures on protection related topics especially PSEA and child safeguarding
- Support awareness raising on protection in the camp in coordination with the Community mobilization team
Service mapping and protection referral pathways
- Ensure effective protection referral pathways with mapped service providers in the camp
- Ensure that referral pathways are communicated and explained to all intervening partners (i.e. humanitarian actors / local authorities) but also to site-level governance structure and more generally camp population;
- Support partners, service providers, camp management committees and Camp Management team to refer protection cases they identify
- Ensure that all referrals are tracked and timely followed up
- In cooperation with the Complaints and Feedbacks Mechanism Officer, manage a database of protection incidents reported to and by the CM Teams. Ensure the protection of all data in the database
- Inform about protection service gaps during coordination meetings.
External coordination
- Liaise with partners, service providers and camp committees on protection issues and protection services available in camp
- Attend all camp coordination meetings
- Attend external meetings and/or trainings as requested
- Attend the technical meeting with Capital Protection Unit, on weekly/biweekly basis
Reporting
- Ensure timely weekly reports to the Deputy Camp Manager/Camp Manager, and Capital Protection Unit, on protection activities implemented and/or monitored
- Prepare protection meeting minutes and other reports as requested.
