Overview:
Cooperative Housing Foundation (CHF) International is a humanitarian organization providing urgent support to the people of Syria. All project activities are politically neutral, independent, and impartial. We provide support to everyone based on need, not political, religious, ethnic, or tribal affiliation.
CHF is seeking a professional for the position of Driver Inclusive of a Vehicle for a multi-year USAID-funded project “Growing Agriculture and Incomes in Syria (GROW) Activity” in Northeast Syria. This position reports to the Logistics Assistant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The overall responsibility of the driver will be to provide transportation services in all areas and aspects of the Operations process. The driver is hired inclusive of vehicle. The position of driver reports to the Logistics assistant or delegate as agreed.
1.
The driver must ensure that he strictly adhere to instructions from the site Operations department within the scope of work.
2.
Driver must ensure that vehicle is maintained to the highest standards according to the required specifications in the contract.
3. Vehicle must be ready for field trips even on unpaved roads (agricultural lands), and available for transport services that meet CHF needs.
4.
Driver must ensure that during working hours, the vehicle is solely used for CHF work and services.
5.
The drivers should be literate, capable to communicate and be able to fill all onboard documents and logbooks as per fleet management requirement.
6.
The drivers should be familiar with the operations area and the roads.
7.
The driver must submit copies of valid driving license and ownership certificate of vehicle.
8.
The driver should have at least 3 years’ experience in public driving.
9.
Only roads designated by CHF should be used. CHF will not be responsible and liable to compensate for any trips that will be outside of designated area and out of work hours.
10.
CHF takes no legal responsibility nor accepts any fiscal responsibility for any injuries, damages or claims in respect of all accidents or crashes regardless of deemed responsibility and is not responsible for vehicle regular maintenance and/or any damages that may result from incidents that may occur .
11.
The driver will be fully responsible for all damages caused to property or people while performing the work.
12.
Driver and vehicle must not carry any restricted commodities, including weapons, at any time.
13.
The driver must ensure that he does not have any relation with any military groups.
14.
The driver must not use the vehicle for any purpose other than what is stated in the scope of work during working hours.
15.
The driver must not carry in the car any person that is not doing business for CHF. Only CHF employees and official visitors are allowed to be in the vehicles during working hours.
16.
Driver must fill the logbook in an appropriate, accurate, professional and transparent manner. Failing to report accurate mileage will result in immediate termination of the contract. Accountable mileage to the threshold shall be counted from CHF office/base and not the driver's home/base of vehicle.
17.
Drivers are not allowed to change the vehicles during the service period without strong justification and prior approval from the Operations Manager/designee. In addition, the operations Manager/designee may request improvements/repairs to the vehicle at no additional cost to CHF.
18.
Transporting work supplies or any other equipment upon the supervisor’s request.
19.
Carry out any other related duties as might be reasonably requested by the Supervisor.
Vehicle Requirements: Van with the below specification:
1)
Functional Air conditioned
2)
At least 2 airbags (driver, front passanger)
3)
9 seatbelts
4)
At least four doors
5)
Year of manufacuring: 2016 and above
6)
not less than 10 stable passengers’ seats
7)
The vehichle should be originally designed for passengers transportation not for goods shipments
8)
different color from white is preferred.
9)
Should be well maintained and able to function as planned (good tires condition and spare tires, good engine conditions, good brakes, safety belt, etc.)
10)
Should be clean and bear no other external identification, beside the plate number.
11)
Should contain Roadside Emergency and Safety Kits (valid fire extinguisher, first aid kit, equipment for normal vehicle failure)
12)
The vehicle will be inspected daily by the Operations Department. In case a vehicle is found to not compile with CHF inspection requirements at any point, the vehicle will be removed from the service and contract will be terminated or requested to be replaced.
Education and Training:
•
Secondary School with 3 years’ experience, or a combination of education and work experience at least 4 years in this field.
•
Knowledge of reading, writing and good communication skills are required in addition to experience and a work culture in this field.
Experience:
•
Priority in employment will be for car owners from this region
•
Basic knowledge of accepted log practices and principles
•
A minimum of 3 years' experience in the work sector. Past work with local NGOs and/or international donor funded programs preferred but not essential.
•
The driver should be the owner of the vehicle with valid vehicle documents, and valid public driving license.
Technical skills:
•
Ability to solve problems in the field.
