The EDU/ Hygiene Promoter will be based in CVT’s office or TLC (Temporary Learning Centre) in Raqqa, Manbij & Deir Ezzor and will be under supervision of and report to the WASH Assistant.
Responsibilities :
The main responsibility of the EDU/Hygiene Promoter is responsible for Promote, monitor, survey, and assess the targeted schools & TLCs (Temporary Learning Centres)in the assigned area group levels through daily field and school/TLC visits, and conduct surveys and visit, and Conduct hygiene promotion sessions in the field , schools & TLCs; He/she will be working under direct supervision of the WASH Assistant .Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:.
The main tasks of the EDU/ Hygiene Promoter are as follows:
- Promote, monitor, survey, and assess the targeted schools & TLCs in the assigned area and group level through daily field and school/TLC visits;
- Conduct surveys and visit in order to identify new participants to the Hygiene Promotion sessions, and Conduct hygiene promotion sessions in the field, schools & TLCs;
- Arrange thematic focus group discussions, awareness, and hygiene promotion sessions.
- Conduct hygiene promotion sessions within communities, schools, health centres, households, distribution points;
- Conduct schools/ TLCs visiting to inform and motivate teachers & children to improve their hygiene living conditions.
- Participate in the distribution of Hygiene Kit during Cholera Emergency response via the field team.
- Animate focus group, giving clear message on good anti-Cholera hygiene practice; Create & identify the most appropriate message regarding the target population, and working on it;
- Hygiene Promoter will conduct specific sessions to students, teachers, the staff in school and TLC , water vendors or those responsible for trucking, selling, and monitoring water collection on cholera prevention messages, on the importance of safe water handling, and on the purpose of chlorination.
- Manage the Hygiene promotion related logistics, equipment, and material;
- Evaluate the necessary material needed for a training & session/activity;
- Conducting trainings and leading workshops for the teachers and community members about Cholera and the best hygiene
- Participate in the identification of beneficiaries for the WASH activities (Water supply rehabilitation, Water Chlorination, Water testing &distribution of hygiene kits etc.) As requested,
- Promote Hygiene to children to help them acquire safer hygiene behaviours;
- Participate in hygiene campaign, doing shows in schools/TLCs and at community level;
- Act as a link between the organization and the beneficiaries;
- Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards;
- Forging relationships with key people in the community, stakeholders and community leaders to ensure proper implementation;
- Regular meetings with supervisor and other team member to communicate new technical topics;
- Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members;
- Provide regular updates from the field to the line Manager & officer;
- Report any incidences related to protection of IDPs, host-communities and other vulnerable groups to the management;
- Report security incidences in the field in a timely manner to the management;
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by Project Manager.
- Understand and abide by the principles of the Schools & TLCs and the established codes of conduct, child protection policies, and other relevant guidelines;
- Will adhere to COVID-19 & Cholera preventive measures during and throughout execution of all above mentioned tasks.
